Malicious Mankind - A poem by Sachin Phadke

Once the nature was full of climbers ,creepers
But now substituted with huge skyscrapers
Former provided us food to eat
Can our belly tolerate food of concrete?

The hindrance or so called development
Have given trees and bushes hard dent
Once flourishing &smiling with utmost ease
Now their existence has started them to tease.

Once moon used to meet fishes pebbles in the lake
From the late night till we wake
The monstrous chemical has blocked its path
Made strongest friends to part.

Once the trees used to dance with the breeze
But now it causes it to sneeze
Once was boon and helped to grow new roots
But now a curse which completely uproots.

Once the rain was the heaven’s embassy
Dancing were earth’s creature full of ecstasy
But rain full of smoke and acid
Have dis-eased creatures so placid.

“the lion poached a man in a city”
Newspaper exclaimed, ”What a pity”?
We have debarred it from its habitat
Stop this cruel business ,before it is too late.

Once the rain flow was synonymous to melody
But now it has turned into a cacophony
Once was lifeline for a million
Now it roars and destroys like a villain.
Is it natural cloud burst
Or nature’s anger has burst?
We have to check our action in meantime
Otherwise our life will cease to exist in no time.

Man comes and perishes
But alters nature so precious
Nature tries to avenge the man’s cruel deed
For which upcoming generation has to suffer thrown away like a weed.

Is the nature to be blamed
For the so called development we claimed
We can’t control nature’s force
Otherwise it will hit back with tremendous force

Are we so kind
But ironically we call ourselves mankind
